Scataglini

This burial chamber contained the aristocratic Tarquinian family of the Anina. The interior of the tomb was commissioned by Larth Anina, the head of the family, who arranged to have two Etruscan demons painted on either side of the entrance to the tomb on the interior walls. These two demons were depicted as Charon, the demon of the underworld who is armed with a hammer, and Vanth, who carried a torch in his hand to light the way for souls travelling to the after-life.

Dated: First half of the 3rd century B.C.
